New Jersey’s busy Beckett Street Terminal is a one-stop service break bulk and bulk facility that handles hundreds of international ships and domestic cargoes every year. Due to this high usage A.P. Construction, Inc. recently reconstructed and modernized the decaying Berth Number 2.

The project involved the demolition and removals of existing pier and transit shed; new west wall including piles, foundation and columns at transit shed; new pile supported reinforced concrete high deck pier with bollards, fenders and composite fender piles; new steel sheet pile wall behind pier; extend existing drain pipe; provide crane rail and railroad track on pier; new mooring structure north of new pier; bituminous paving; relocation of outdoor lighting and motor operated rolling steel doors; removal and residing of east, north and south walls of the transit shed; and protection of work site.

Subsequent to A.P.’s renovations the Berth is now well prepared to meet the challenges of a new and evermore competitive marketplace.
