JOB OPPORTUNITIES

This position requires the leadership skills necessary to coordinate and effectively manage a project team. You must possess strong written and oral communication skills, in addition to strong planning and organizational skills. Persons applying for this position must have experience overseeing financial controls and contract documents, as well as have a proven record of creating productive long-term client relationships through successful project deliveries. This position will require you to coordinate weekly project meetings and manage the scheduling and reporting of project information to the team. Formal education and/or training in computerized project management tools is beneficial.

As a Project Engineer, you will coordinate meetings, disseminate information to the entire project team and subcontractors and assist, prepare, and update the project progress schedule. Responsibilities also include managing shop drawing submittals, material expediting, and delivery process while also determining short-term and long-term project goals. This position requires excellent written, oral, organizational, and planning skills. Construction management and/or engineering degree preferred. Formal education and/or training in automated project management tools is beneficial.

Successful candidates should have a proven ability to assemble general construction costing, budget and lump sum estimates; solicit subcontractor pricing or bids; prepare scopes of work for all trade contractors; understand drawings and specifications; provide takeoff and pricing for all trades and unit costs. Responsibilities include: preparation of estimates; preparation of budget estimates for conceptual, design development and construction documents; providing budget updates and reconciliation to previous estimate; coordination of estimate submissions after review by the company team through the Project Executive; preparation of value engineering studies as required; presenting budgets to clients with support of the project management team; and assisting Project Managers in change orders as requested. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must.
Successful candidates should have a proven ability of positive interactions with clients and subcontractors. Those desiring consideration for this position should also have experience performing and enforcing quality and safety inspections on job sites. Responsibilities include overseeing daily project activities, directing work, change order documentation, daily reporting, implementing and updating of the project progress schedule. You will assume the lead role in the detailed scheduling of work. Strong oral, organizational, and management skills are required for this position.

As an intern, students are paired with a mentor who will expose them to project assignments and a vibrant office environment. Interns gain the same understanding of the responsibilities and understanding of the construction industry as a new, entry level employee. Interns are exposed to all aspects of construction projects, from estimating and project management to project operations, project accounting, and field supervision. Many of our interns have become a part of the A.P. team as full-time employees — evidence that our program works.
