| Occupying approximately 110 acres along the Delaware River, the Kvaerner Philadelphia Shipyard (formerly called the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard) is being developed into the most technologically advanced commercial shipbuilding facility in the world. The yard has a proud shipbuilding history which is being constantly preserved with site improvement modifications to assure the City of Philadelphia a world-class shipbuilding location in the future. Because of the complexity of the work, the Site Development expertise of A.P. Construction, Inc. was sought to perform dry dock modifications; gantry crane rail demolition; foundation demolition; bulk excavation; building excavation; building dewatering; site utilities; and complete roadway construction for the 600,000 sq. ft. seven, building property. With the nearby international airport, shipping terminals and the infrastructure of a major American city, the shipyard will continue to be a modern shipbuilding resource for the demanding U.S. marketplace. |
